Welcome to Caerhys Organic Farm
PLEASE NOTE: Due to ill health the bed and breakfast is no longer taking any bookings.
Caerhys Organic Farm is on the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast. We are just 1/2 mile from the coast and approx. 4 miles from St.David's. The farmhouse was built in 1864 and later extended and modernised in 1980. In 1840 it was just 13 acres and was made up of 8 small fields. These are now one large field. In the census of 1851 it showed that there were 3 dwellings at Caerhys. 14 people lived here some were farmers and one was a slater and his family, he probably worked in the slate quarry at Abereiddy. Gerald`s father acquired tenancy of Caerhys in 1934 which had mixed farming. In 1967 he bought the farm which was now approx 70 acres, it is now in total 160 acres.
Along the decades it has been a good early producing farm, growing 70 acres of early potatoes in the 70's and 80's as well as running a dairy herd and growing arable crops and pasture to feed all the livestock. In 1998 we gained our organic licence. In 2003 due to falling milk prices, we decided to sell our dairy herd. We are now diversifying to alternative enterprises; a welsh black suckler herd for Organic Beef, Livery and stables, and Bed and Breakfast.
